REI has some great suggestions on great dog friendly hiking trails.  First up on the list is:

1813 North Marshfield Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622

The 606 is a unique trail that was created from an old elevated train line. It's on leash dog friendly. On this trail, you are able to appreciate the city views while walking from an elevated view through various Chicago neighborhoods. This way you can get a tour of Chicago without the traffic, street lights, and stop signs!

531 Lakefront Trail, Chicago, IL 60605

This famous lakefront trail is 18 miles long and it's on leash dog friendly. It's a great way to walk by many famous Chicago sights such as, Millenium Park, Navy Pier, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago History Museum, North Avenue Beach, Lincoln Park Zoo, Belmont Harbor, Lincoln Park, and Montrose Beach. Montrose Beach is known for having an excellent dog beach and would be a great way to end your walk with your pooch.

North Simonds Drive, Chicago, IL 60640

Or if you'd rather start off your walk with your dog prancing around off leash in the lake at the dog beach, go to Montrose Beach! This will give your wet dog an opportunity to dry off for the rest of the walk. To begin this trail, you head north past the dog park and follow a large trail along the lake. At some point, you will have the option to either turn onto the Chicago Lakefront Trail or take a shorter walk and finish by going past the new public track up the hill in Montrose Park.

Wherever you decide to go, your dog will thank you for it with kisses and cuddles!
